Somewhere to be
Step in from the soi and the air cools, the light turns violet and the street falls quiet behind the glass. There are two places to settle: the room inside, and a small lawn out front. Stay for five minutes or for a long conversation.
The Violet Room
Violet walls, warm bulbs strung in loops overhead and a polished wooden floor that holds the colour of the light. Curved cream sofas are set for conversation, with one pink flower of a cushion for whoever gets there first. The air is cool, the music is low and the evening takes its time.
The Front Lawn
Out front, beneath the violet sign, a small square of lawn that stays green all year. Canvas chairs, little tables and the open air: a seat on the edge of Soi 13/1, close enough to watch Pattaya go by without having to join in.
